Personal Growth
Six Means of Personal Growth
Personal growth will occur every now and then in every person’s life, depending on the challenges and circumstances he or she faces on a daily basis. When people achieve, they develop personal traits, when they lose, they also develop abilities to persevere. You have to distinguish the patterns and characteristics needed to fully become a healthy and well-rounded individual. Here are some tips on how to manage personal growth the best way.
1. Recognising Growth
Personal growth may happen sporadically or consistently, but the bottom line is that it goes on, regardless of the efforts that you put or the means that you may try to prevent it. Growth can be very slow for certain periods and then be conveniently visible, depending on the situation. You should engage in the process and get rid of all other attachments that can hinder it. The world always tries to focus on the results. Regardless of the process, the most important thing is that you become a better individual in the end.
You should practice getting involved in the process of personal growth by reading books, talking to experts and following the examples of other successful individuals. Everything is included in a huge process. You should try to get rid of the old and just think of achieving the end result, since you can still learn so much from the journey towards that single goal.
2. Pace Yourself
It takes time to develop certain traits and habits, so you should be patient with the changes. Work on one thing per period. You should create a schedule or routine, wherein you can focus entirely on the subject matter at hand, instead of spreading your attention over several aspects and objects. Achievers can have the ability to do several things at a time. The fact is that it takes time to develop that kind of focus. You should start by focusing on one thing at a time and then slowly build your ability to multi-task. You will find that you get to appreciate your strengths and abilities by learning how to compartmentalise various features of life on how to become a better you.
3. Consider Others Around You
Personal growth is usually honed by your experiences and reactions toward other people. You should stop speaking and thinking only about yourself or in the first person, then start including others around you in the major decisions that you make. You will also develop character and base some of your choices on how others perceive and influence you. You should start thinking about society and the world around you, since you are a part of a bigger community and co-exist with other human beings.
4. On Planning
You should understand that not all plans go according to your expectations. Only very few plans happen 100% as expected. You should try to follow your path, instead of forcing your plan. There are several ways to handle different challenges and situations in your life. Planning will help you through the process, but you should be flexible enough to let others share in the load as well. You can get results by learning how to delegate and focus on how to become a better you. You also get to appreciate the strengths and talents of other people and possibly develop your own set of abilities for further personal growth.
5. The Support System
You should define the people and activities that will enrich and enhance your personal life. You should be able to say at the end of the day that you have enough people supporting your path to success and that you can get regular encouragement and advice from these individuals. You can get a personal coach or mentor who can give you objective responses on how you are dealing with life and your current situation. The support system is very effective in helping you deal with problems and other obstacles that you may encounter as you go along.
6. Appreciating Yourself
To grow personally, you should appreciate and admire your inborn traits and characteristics. You should tell yourself that you are a deserving and talented individual who can accomplish great things as long as you put effort into it. You will continue to grow personally as long as you believe that you have the capacity. Be grateful about your strengths and bank on these. Also accept your shortcomings then start to find ways to overcome the hindrances to ultimately improve on these.
